panelists[0][14] = '
Spending an idyllic early childhood, in the green hills of mid-Wales and a few years in the picturesque coastal city of St John\'s, Newfoundland, Canada, for the most part, she was educated in Germany and attended boarding schools there. By the age of 10 she was fluent bi-lingual in English and German.

Following her Baccalaureate degree, being a somewhat adventurous spirit, she took a sabbatical from school and travelled throughout Europe, hitchhiking from Germany to Casablanca, Morocco, and back!

Upon her return, she accepted a position as Executive Secretary with the National Bank of Detroit, Frankfurt Branch where she stayed for 4 years, thus abandoning her plans to return to school. A bank client, who was establishing a US manufacturing facility wanted a bi-lingual assistant to help with their new US subsidiary in Battle Creek, Michigan, and in 1978, she was offered that position by C.A. Picard Inc. and came to the US.

She met her German-born husband in Battle Creek, and together, they started a family.

In 1982, Karin was forced to give up her budding career at C.A. Picard, when her husband\'s company transferred him to another State. The United States was mired in a fairly deep recession and available jobs were slim to none. Karin\'s life-long motto came to the rescue: "if it is to be, it is up to me", and she promptly found a German company willing to come to the US and hire her to manage things. (Lach Diamond Inc.)

After 4 successful years with Lach Diamond Inc., Karin decided it was time to build her own business. She contacted another wood-industry related manufacturer in Germany, (GUHDO) who was prepared to enter into a partnership with her to gain market share in the US. Together they founded GUHDO USA in 1986.

Many years later, following the death of GUHDO Germany\'s President and partner in the US venture, Karin acquired the shares of her former partner and relocated the business, now 100% hers, to the outskirts of Atlanta.

Today, GUHDO USA is a WBENC certified, small business employing 9 people with an annual sales volume of $3 million. The company sells precision cutting tools throughout the US and Canada and does some exporting to South America. Its customer base is varied, ranging from large, well-known companies such as Mill\'s Pride, Ashley Furniture, Mannington Wood Floors and similar corporations, to smaller cabinet shops, moulding and millwork manufacturers, store fixture manufacturers and the likes. The company\'s expertise lies in custom tooling and high-tech synthetic (polycrystalline) diamond tooling. Although all new tools are imported from Europe, the company has numerous CNC profile grinders to produce some custom tooling and service diamond tooling in their 5000 sq. ft facility in Marietta, GA. Apart from tooling for the woodworking industry, GUHDO also supplies and sharpens specialty cutting tools to some niche markets, such as commutator manufacturers, Printed Circuit Board manufacturers and Teflon manufacturers.

Karin has been actively involved in the woodworking industry over the past 28 years, attending aand exhibiting at major trade shows, participating in Woodworking Industry Conferences and member of industry trade associations. She has authored numerous articles published in leading trade journals regarding cutting tool technology and she has previously spent 6 years on the Board of Directors of the industry\'s major Trade Association, the WMIA (Woodworking Machinery Industry Association). She has just been elected to serve another 3 year term on the WMIA Board starting later this year.

Karin lives in Roswell, GA. with her husband of 28 years. They have 4 children and 2 grandchildren. When she is not engaged in business projects, Karin has plenty of passions to take up her time. Some of them include oil painting, tinkering on her piano, a good book, spending time with family or travelling to Europe where she still visits several times a year.
';

Among his personal favorites are the life-size nude which was "blown away" with a tommy gun used in an episode of the Untouchables television series and the 100 foot long, 84 ton train for the annual Nabisco Christmas Party in New Jersey. But holding the most special place in his heart is his original rendition of "Symphony On Ice" which included all the instruments of the orchestra, even the conductor. Our lack of training worked to our advantage because we would try anything, and we weren\'t afraid to fail.

Our philosophy was always that our food was made with the finest ingredients, from scratch and it had to taste good. His strength was management and analysis - his passion was delivering value added, customer service. In Paul\'s 25 year tenure at Manulife he developed the many management and business skills that have allowed him to succeed in business today. Manulife offered him the opportunity to run his departments as though they were his own business and his own accountability.

In 1994 Paul embarked on his first entrepreneurial venture when he purchased Caddgroup Educational Services. His vision was to expand from a niche government based vocational training provider to a broad based corporate training enterprise. In 1999 he achieved his goal through a merger to form SolidCAD. Since the merger, SolidCAD has continued its growth from one of smallest Autodesk resellers in the Canadian channel to become the largest in Canada. Strong management, valued solutions and unsurpassed customer service continue as the cornerstones of the company\'s success. Sound, annual business planning built on the skills learned at Manulife Financial has allowed SolidCAD to succeed and grow in an environment of tightening costs and increased competition.

Paul Forman also sits on a variety of charitable and community based, social-service Boards of Directors returning time and value to the communities at large.

';

panelists[7][14] = '
The uniqueness of YAS Architecture, LLC is based on more than thirty years of highly varied design experience, a problem-solving approach unencumbered by any pre-conceived notions, close personal collaboration with the client, and a seasoned perspective drawn from a distinctive educational experience and hands-on involvement in projects of international reach. Operationally, YAS Architecture is best characterized as a boutique firm: large enough to provide sufficient depth of experience and know-how to handle complex assignments of varied scale, yet small enough to be consistently responsive to, and engaged with, its client base. YAS Architecture\'s services range from urban design, to architecture, to interior design. Though user requirements drive the design process, YAS buildings exhibit a deep respect for their relationship to the communities and urban places where they have been built. Firm president and design principal Stephen Yas earned his educational credentials at Ohio University (Bachelor of Architecture), and Oxford Brookes University (Master of Architecture). He received additional postgraduate instruction at the Moscow Architectural Institute (USSR) and Harvard Graduate School of Design.

';

For example we have carpet reps that can come in for a visit. We tell them the budget. They show us what they have in that budget. They tell us the material properties of the carpet...i.e. better suited for hospital or hospitality or office or residential, etc. these are the people we continue to work with over and over even if the material cost is higher. They provide a service, make our job more time effective and make us look good!

Thinking of the relationships you have/could have with your business suppliers, how would you define "immediate"?

They are there to service us the next day if required.
